over Mekong Delta and spent a little time in Camdodia. Anyone who have knowledge
of this unit please e-mail me. It was a very easy to recognize, because of
the metal or wooden radar towers, that held the radar units. Spent alot of
time at a firebase with Koonie, Parrish out of Detroit and Rodriguez from
Puerto Rico. There were others, due to rotation. Any help would be appreciated. |

Leon-I want to say that you have done tremendous work and time in putting
together materials for all former (and others) 9th Infantry Division. Its
informative. Would be nice if someone could form the (one concept) 9th Infantry
Division Association, with "tax exempt" status and registered as Incorporation
(Inc). It is in my thoughts but I am engrossed in the 3/39th Infantry and
my other association of other periods of my military service. I have been
asked by men of the battalion, why? we have no 9th ID Assoc. I simply told
them, no one want to step forward and start this task. For reunion 2001 at
Ft Mitchell, I will initiate election of officers for 3/39th Inf, 1st day
a nomination slate, next day election of officers to run the 3/39th Infantry,
I hope we have a quorum for this intention. I will try only for
Memebership/Historian. Will suggest to the Officers to become "tax exempt"
and "Inc". Keep up the fine job, it keeps me in your Web Site and I'm open
to hacker's nonsense but its good reading too!

I was a member of the FDC at Rach Kien. About July of 1968, I left the
btry and moved over with the infantry as a liason sgt and FO as we were short
FO's at that time. I went out in the field often and on Sept 10, was shot
in the chest near Can Ghioc(sp), about 5 km south of Rach Kien. Six infantrymen
helped drag me off the field on a poncho to a recon helicopter. I think the
unit was B company 5/60, but I'm not sure. Did not know any of those guys,
but if that sounds familier to anyone would sure like to be in contact with
whoever helped save my life. Also to helicopter pilot who came in when dustoff
would not. Pvt. German was radioman from Broken Arrow, Ok. I think a Lt.
Hill from Texas was also there. Hello to all others in the Btry at the time! |
