9th Infantry Division Memorial Downed Pilot
Dedication

Octafoil

As young men, we answered our country's call to duty in a strange and distant land. Many of those who answered this call stayed behind forever. The passing years have seen others of us join those fallen comrades. Some came home but are still there in their troubled thoughts and memories.

The rifles are stacked, the flags are furled, the bugle is silent, and the battlefield is serene. But we who gather here today remember the service and the sacrifice. For those who are no longer with us, we remember. For those who cannot join us today, we remember. And for the generations that will follow us, we remember

Today we can look back to when we were young, eager, and ready to serve our country. Little did we know that those hard days of service and sacrifice would be our legacy of duty and honor for our families and for our country. We stand straight and proud for ourselves and for those who cannot be here with us.

Those who are not here today are here in spirit. We stand in for them and we answer for them. Our Roll Call is complete. The members of the U.S. Army 9th Infantry Division, being all present and accounted for, dedicate this memorial to the memory and honor of all those living and dead who served when their country called.

They were indeed, "Old Reliables".
