H43 Husky Directs  Fire Fighting Effort
Bearcat - July , 1968

One of the rubber 4000 gallon aviation fuel bladders ruptured. Smoking was suppose to have been the ignition source. It leaked into the ditch along the air strip at Bearcat where it ignited. In turn, it set off one or two other fuel bladders. The entire ditch along the south side of the main  runway (In front of the PX) was ablaze. The picture was taken as the fire was brought under control. The Kaman came from either Saigon or LBJ (I heard Saigon, but can't say for sure.) It was directing fire fighting efforts at the time the picture was taken. - James Smith
